    Federal Depository Library No. The Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP) was established by Congress to ensure that the American public has access to its Government's information. Since , depository libraries have safeguarded the public's right to know by collecting, organizing, maintaining, preserving, and assisting users with information from the Federal Government. Depository publications are federal property, and they remain so even after they have been delivered to libraries. Through guidelines set forth in Chap Title 44 of the U. S. Code, the federal government has reserved the right to determine how and when documents may be removed from depository lly, the law delegates to Regional depositories the authority to permit.

    The Federal Depository Library Program As a member of the Federal Depository Library Program, the Interior Library provides local, no-fee access to Federal government information in an impartial environment with professional assistance. Anyone can visit Federal depository libraries and use the Federal depository collections. The Valley Library at OSU is a congressionally designated depository for U.S. Government documents. Public access to the government documents collection is guaranteed by public law.
